  17.                 What Is Expected of Those Calling The Net Host!

  19.     Some things that  others have tried  that are not expected of you.  Do a
  20.     mail scan on your system daily.  IF a REP packet is generated,  it is to
  21.     be uploaded during that day's event.  If there is no REP generated  then
  22.     dialing out is really not necessary  for nodes calling the host.  But we
  23.     do have a minimum of "once a week"  that must be maintained for nodes to
  24.     call the host system. This is a *minimum*  to pick up the private forums
  25.     that do not go out on the satellite or FTP packets. If you are a hub for
  26.     Intelec then you must call daily,  regardless of any REP packet existing
  27.     or not. You must call in and grab the private forums  DAILY.  What we've
  28.     seen some SysOps do is upload mail on  (example)  the 15th.  Within that
  29.     upload is mail from their board dated the 10th.  This is not permissable
  30.     and can run the risk of host privileges being revoked. That meant that a
  31.     mail scan was either not done on the  10th, 11th, 12th, 13th and 14th or
  32.     it was scanned on the 10th  but the SysOp did not run his dialout  until
  33.     the 15th. Either way it's not permissible. That is longer than the land-
  34.     line method  and we are not trying to take a step "backwards"  with this
  35.     new technology....  Again,  scan daily and if a REP is created, send it.

  37.                     If Uplink/Upload Fails Event Processing

  39.     If there is a day when our event fails to send the QWK's  to the uplink,
  40.     or more likely the uplink BBS experiences any of it's constant problems,
  41.     within the  INTELEC.QIF  zip file will be the previous days' mail in the
  42.     format of  INTELEC.QWK, INTELEC.QW0, INTELEC.QW1, etc.  This is for easy
  43.     automation. If you are a hub for Intelec, this is NOT an option, you are
  44.     required to call the host BBS and pick up the lost mail. Use the SAT cmd
  45.     as shows relay "stats" as well as what file name(s) for you to download.

  47.                                 Payment Options
  48.     Intelec has a "one-time" membership fee of $35 which is due prior to the
  49.     beginning of relays. Please see the NETRULES.IN file for details on this
  50.  
  51.     For those SysOps interested in getting Intelec via FTP or via satellite,
  52.     there is a $2/month access fee so we can offset the expense of uploading
  53.     the mail to the satellite uplink & FTP server. The host BBS is reliable,
  54.     fast and you don't have to worry about losing your hub.  And the fee for
  55.     doing so is less than 7 cents a day!  How many other nets permit calling
  56.     the host system directly even if you are a node?  Here is a breakdown of
  57.     the rates/payment schedules:

  59.     If date is between 01/01/96 - 01/31/96 - $24 to be paid through 12/31/96
  60.     If date is between 02/01/96 - 02/28/96 - $22 to be paid through 12/31/96
  61.     If date is between 03/01/96 - 03/31/96 - $20 to be paid through 12/31/96
  62.     If date is between 04/01/96 - 04/30/96 - $18 to be paid through 12/31/96
  63.     If date is between 05/01/96 - 05/31/96 - $16 to be paid through 12/31/96
  64.     If date is between 06/01/96 - 06/30/96 - $14 to be paid through 12/31/96
  65.     If date is between 07/01/96 - 07/31/96 - $12 to be paid through 12/31/96
  66.     If date is between 08/01/96 - 08/31/96 - $10 to be paid through 12/31/96
  67.     If date is between 09/01/96 - 09/30/96 - $32 to be paid through 12/31/97

  72.     In other words, as of 09/01 of a year, the following year is required to
  73.     be paid in full as well. We've decided to do this as A) we don't want to
  74.     deal with checks less than $10 and the SysOps will only have to make out
  75.     another check in a few months anyway. And B) so that all accounts become
  76.     due at the same time so we don't have an accounting nightmare over this.
  77.     For expiring SysOps the fee's due 12/01, 30 days before the fee expires.

  79.     It costs extra  money each month to make Intelec available on the Planet
  80.     Connect satellite system and the FTP servers. Systems wanting to hub for
  81.     for Intelec "outside of North America" would NOT be subject to this fee!
  82.     And $2 a month is peanuts  compared to the more conventional/traditional
  83.     way of relaying e-mail via modem.  Mail packets on the Satellite and FTP
  84.     will soon be password encrypted  and only those authorized to access the
  85.     mail will be given this "rotating" password. Current plans are to rotate
  86.     the password monthly  or to arrange for "key" files at some future date.
